This year we opened the first Christmas gift the day after Thanksgiving... yep, that's right, the day after Thanksgiving. The girls had waited a couple weeks now and were more than ready to open the huge box from grandpa. To their delight, inside was a Christmas train fully loaded with lights, sounds, moving elves and Santa!
So, we had to set it up. They helped put the tracks together...
As Carter eagerly awaited...
Once the tracks were put together we got the engine and cars out and got it running. Carter couldn't resist going after it...Carter also got a chance to run the train... sorry dad, he's not going to have his first train conducting experience with ya.
And after a job well done all the kids sat and watched the train go round and round and round and round and...

We spent some time Tuesday night carving up a couple pumpkins that we got at a local pumpkin patch. Kylie (still hesitant at first) and Hannah (ready to dive right in) enjoyed digging out the pumpkins themselves.
What beautiful weather we had this year for Halloween. The neighborhood was full of kids this year. Hannah and Kylie dressed up as prairie girls and they had one of Hannah's friends Brigham (the Lion) over to Trick or Treat with.

Boiler Up!

Kylie and I had a great day today. We went and saw the Purdue Boilermakers beat the Iowa Hawkeye's 31-6 at Ross-Ade Stadium. This was Kylie's first time to attend a home game. We made sure to get there early so we could catch all the festivities going on. We caught a little of the men's basketball open practice inside Mackey Arena, which she thought was way cool cause we could go down and sit in the first row. After that we checked out all the activities going on around Mackey Arena, where we picked up a couple of Purdue foam hands to wave around at the game. We then proceeded to walk all through the tailgating section, from the stadium lot, through the golf course, so Kylie could see all the crazy people that came to these games. As it got closer to game time we made our way back to the North entrance of the stadium where we caught the band starting up the fun...
After taking in all the twirling and dancing and songs we headed for our seats...
Even though we had hot dogs, roast beef sandwiches, pretzels, m&ms and all kinds of good stuff Kylie said she enjoyed the football game the most! We had wonderful weather and Kylie really was a trooper for being out and about for so long. All in all we had an awesome time spending the day together!

We enjoyed a nice weeked celebrating my parents 40th wedding anniversary while at the Holiday Inn along the North East side of Indianapolis. They have recently added an indoor water park that includes three large water slides, a lazy river, a really cool kiddie pool, a regular size pool and two themed hot tubs.

The Big Snow

It started snowing late Monday night and didn't stop until late Tuesday. When we awoke Wednesday morning we had gotten about 16" of snow. With the wind blowing all day and night we had drifts up to 4' in some spots. Below are a bunch of photos from the next few days. Some of the girls playing in the snow and some of just the house and neighborhood.
